Two Poems for Brookford Farm and Agrarian Trust
by Meghan Collins

Tranquility
Tranquility
Far as eyes can see
By the river
Underneath the trees
Tiny shop
Honey from bees
Sky so blue
Earth so green
Dogs at play
Tiny plants grow
Into the earth
Where they will lay
Cows and cream
Veggies and cheese
Love mother nature
Learn to live with her
And you shall
Receive
Free
Water runs constantly
Never taking a breath
Roots run deep
Never stopping to rest
Come down to
Brookford farm
Please be our guest
The trees and plants breath
Feel truly blessed
Never seen so much green
Never felt so serene
This is how it must be
To feel like you are free
Meghan (Meg) Collins lives in Plymouth, New Hampshire and is a senior History major at Plymouth State. Writing has been an outlet for her for most of her life, poetry being a favorite. She sings in a band called Out of Water and they write all their own music. She would love to use her voice to help the cause of preserving the land, because its more important than ever to project positive energy into that which matters—like protecting the Earth's life and ecosystems through art.
Agrarian Trust (agrariantrust.org) supports land access for next generation farmers for sustainable food production, collective ecological stewardship, complex land succession, with accounting, estate planning, retirement planning and legal and technical assistance.
